Jin, a cherished member of the global phenomenon BTS, is often seen sharing heartfelt moments and fun times with his bandmates, a bond that fans adore. Now that he’s back from military service, Jin has reconnected with the public, giving his second interview post-discharge.
In a chat with W Korea, he opened up about his journey, friendships, and personal boundaries.
During the interview, Jin was asked about the evolving nature of friendships as one grows older. The interviewer mentioned a psychologist's view that friendship is one of life's greatest achievements and asked if Jin ever wished he had more friends, given his close-knit circle from childhood.
Jin's response was sincere and reflective. He shared that his current relationships, both with his BTS brothers and non-celebrity friends, are more than enough. He focuses on valuing and nurturing these bonds rather than seeking new ones.
"I believe I already have enough close friends. I have our BTS members as well as those I meet regularly. While I do occasionally meet other friends, it’s challenging to meet them often as they live far away and have busy lives. I also don’t actively seek to make more friends because I want to make sure I give enough attention to my current friends.
“I click well with them, and I am happy with my relationships with them."
The discussion then turned to handling relationships where boundaries are crossed. Jin shared his perspective on dealing with hurtful or disrespectful behaviour, "When someone says something hurtful and brings up things. There are people who use expressions that degrade others in the middle of conversations.
“I may hold back once or twice, but it’s really difficult for me to deal with such individuals. I choose not to continue relationships with those kinds of people."
Jin’s approach is straightforward: he distances himself from negativity to protect his well-being and maintain healthy relationships.
Jin also touched on how he handles anger. He admitted that, like anyone, he gets angry, but he prefers not to dwell on it, "Of course, I get angry from time to time. However, I believe there’s no point in holding onto anger. Life has its ups and downs, so it makes sense to move on from the downs as quickly as possible."
This mindset extends to his interactions. Jin moves on from those who bring negativity into his life, focusing instead on positive and supportive relationships.
Jin has also given fans a peek into his personal life through the Disney+ Hotstar docu-series "BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star," where he introduced his non-celebrity friends. This glimpse into his world shows just how much he values genuine connections and the joy they bring.
As Jin re-enters the spotlight, his thoughts on friendship, boundaries, and emotional resilience offer fans a deeper understanding of his values.
His approach to relationships, marked by loyalty and self-awareness, resonates with many and underscores why he is so beloved, both within BTS and beyond.
