Indonesian Netizens Share Why They Would Move to Malaysia: "Better Opportunities Here!"

Malaysia has long been celebrated as a great place to live, thanks to its diverse culture, delicious cuisine, and vibrant mix of city life and nature. With affordable living costs, world-class infrastructure, and a welcoming atmosphere, it’s no wonder people from around the globe are drawn to our tropical paradise!

Recently, an Indonesian netizen, @balaqaba, sparked a conversation on X about relocating to Malaysia in search of better opportunities.

He asked, “Should I move to Malaysia? The cost of living seems similar to Jakarta, but there seem to be more opportunities there.”

He also sought advice on how freelancers and digital nomads could move to Malaysia. This prompted many responses from fellow Indonesians, who encouraged him to consider the move.

One person shared their thoughts, saying they had just returned from Kuala Lumpur and found the cost of living to be similar to Indonesia but with a better quality of life. They added that many Indonesians living in Malaysia were happy there and had no plans to return home.

Another commenter simply urged him to move, saying they felt there were no longer any good prospects in Indonesia.

Another X user mentioned they had been working in Malaysia for two years and found life there much better. They admitted that if given a choice, they wouldn’t want to return to Indonesia, describing life back home as increasingly difficult.

The thread highlights a growing sentiment among Indonesians who view Malaysia as a land of opportunity. Beyond the promise of a better quality of life, many are drawn to Malaysia’s cultural similarities, ease of communication, and familiar yet distinct way of life.

Regardless of where you are in the world, every country has its own unique charm that makes it special. Whether it’s Malaysia’s warm hospitality or Indonesia’s rich traditions, there’s always something to love about each place we call home.
