Dihan, now 16 years old, was born with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy and has been bedridden since she was just four months old. Her early childhood was spent mostly in hospitals, but as her health stabilised, Wira saw an opportunity to create special memories for her beyond the confines of her bed.

One day, during a family outing, they passed a group of cyclists, and Dihan’s laughter at the sight sparked an idea in Wira’s mind. Why not take her along on his cycling adventures? That simple moment ignited a passion that would go on to define their father-daughter relationship.

Since Dihan turned six, Wira has made it a tradition to celebrate her birthday with adventurous rides or climbs. Together, they’ve conquered a variety of terrains, from the steep paths of Bukit Fraser to the rugged trails of Gunung Jerai. They’ve even completed a 21km half marathon together. For Wira, these activities are not merely about fitness, but a way to bring joy and excitement to Dihan’s life—an experience she might otherwise miss.

Every week, Wira also brings Dihan to community cycling events with a group called Bikeisable, marking their 10th year of participating in such activities together. "I do all this simply to see her smile," Wira says, his voice filled with love and determination. "Life tests all of us, but I believe we should make the most of the time we have."

For Wira, each ride and each run is a reminder of the precious moments he gets to share with his daughter. "Our motto is to live, not merely exist," he says. "I want to give Dihan an extraordinary life, filled with adventure and happiness, for as long as we can."

Wira’s unwavering dedication demonstrates that love, coupled with determination, can turn even the toughest obstacles into a meaningful journey worth embarking on.
