A year after he revealed publicly that he had been diagnosed with testicular cancer, Brendan has since taken to Instagram to share with his fans some updates, announcing that he will spend some time away from the Malaysian League this season.

"Even though there are times when I feel a little let down by unpleasant criticism, my life is always positive. But I frequently use those things as inspiration for my own resilience.

"I've already had surgery, but now I'm facing another test after learning I have testicular cancer,” He said, adding: "Now is the stage for me to go through the recovery process.”

Brendan claims that despite all this, cancer has never stopped him from playing football, “I'm lucky to be surrounded by people who are always supporting me, especially my family, close friends, and the football community.

“Cancer won't break my spirit; instead, it will make me more determined to play football as soon as possible with the Selangor team,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Selangor FC club also asks that everyone sends love and prayers in Brendan's way and respects his privacy while he is recovering.

We’re so proud of you, Brendan!

Thank you for ALL that you do for Selangor and Malaysia. Hopefully we’ll see you on the field again, soon!
