According to Harvard Business Review, once you begin expanding your work hours on a regular basis, working ‘normal hours’ will start to look like slacking off, “We are given 24 hours a day, every day. Being busy is different from being productive,” they wrote in their blog post titled: ‘Should You Stay Late Or Go Home?’

“The hours that are set for you are set for a reason. You should be able to complete your tasks within your working hours. If your current setup isn’t working for you, change it.”

Recently, an employer in a company in Malaysia became the focus of attention when he himself went to the field and made sure his employees returned home on time.

Ir Abdul Rahman said the action was to ensure his employees did not experience burn-out while at work, adding that he acted in this way to fulfill the conditions contained in ISO 9001.

"In general, an organization has to provide a suitable environment to achieve the quality objective. What does a ‘suitable environment’ mean? Among them are ‘suitable psychological factors,’ which is stress reducing and burnout prevention. 

“How to reduce stress and burnout? The answer is to PLAN!” he said.
