Continuing her successful career, Awkwafina's latest project is the live-action adaptation of "The Little Mermaid" (2023), where she takes on the role of Scuttle, a beloved character from the original story.

During a recent interview alongside her co-star Jacob Tremblay, Awkwafina revealed an interesting fact about her past – she used to live in Malaysia. In a short clip shared on a local cinema's official YouTube page, she greeted her Malaysian fans and expressed her love for the country.

Awkwafina casually mentioned that she used to watch movies at the cinema's outlets when she lived in Malaysia, particularly in Kuala Lumpur. This revelation sheds light on her personal connection to the country and adds another layer to her already impressive career.

It's not the first time Awkwafina has shown her affection for Kuala Lumpur. In a YouTube video she filmed for Harper's Bazaar's Food Diaries: Bite Size series in 2021, she expressed her love for the food in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. She specifically mentioned her obsession with dishes like Hainan chicken and roti canai, highlighting Kuala Lumpur as a cool food city.

Awkwafina's connection to Malaysia and her appreciation for its culture and cuisine demonstrate her genuine fondness for the country.
