Woman Didn’t Have Time To Exchange Duit Raya, Prepares Giant Bucket Of Coins Instead!

Hari Raya is the best time to feast with loved ones, exchange gifts and forgive those who have wronged or hurt you and start fresh.

However, for children, Hari Raya is the day when you get ang paos that contain cash from adults who are married or already working.

We’ve adopted the habit of giving packets of money to kids when they go visiting during Hari Raya. The packets or ang pao are usually green in colour and children often look forward to getting these money tokens on Hari Raya.

Many would often “raid” banks ahead of Hari Raya to exchange their duit raya.

Although technology has allowed us to give e-Duit Raya via QR code or e-wallet, the custom of physically handing out duit raya to children in colorful ang pao packets remains. It’s more fun that way, right?

Recently a video went viral of a woman who didn’t have time to exchange duit raya, so she prepared a bucket full of coins instead for the children to take!

TikTok user @shazeilzainal shared a video of a black bucket full of coins. It was believed that the woman didn’t have time to go to the bank to exchange duit raya so she took the initiative to leave a whole bucket of coins as duit raya for the children.

So cute!

Netizens were shocked when they found out that she also provided a little plastic bag for the kids to take the coins from the bin themselves.

“Alamak I have small hands, rugi!” said one person.

The TikTok video has since garnered over 1 million views at the time of writing.

Well, that’s one way to give duit raya. It looks like a lot of fun!
