Animals deserve nothing more than a loving home, food, and lots of TLC. There are many who want pets but simply do not have the means or space to do so, but what if we told you there’s an island where you can care for and love some cats?

Recently, Twitter user Ikhwan shared his experience about his visit to Cat Island, situated near Pusat Tenun Pekan, Pahang. He said that there were around 100 stray cats being taken cared of on the island for now, and it’s a beautiful, calm place - just the right spot for cat lovers. There are little huts for the animals dotted around a lush green field, reminiscent of a kampung, but for cats.
According to Ikhwan, Cat Island was initially a cat shelter, founded by a man who lived in the nearby town of Pekan. When he passed away, some volunteers from France took over and are now maintaining the place.

Unfortunately, as with most projects like this, they need all the help and support they can get. Ikhwan also extended an invitation to those around the area to drop by and contribute in any way they can - money, medication and food are the top priority. He added that he noticed how some cats there had fungal infections, a problem that can be solved with some medical attention and treatment.

Despite being named Cat Island, there are other animals on the island as well. Think goats, ducks and monkeys! The oasis is basically home to all abandoned animals. Pet owners are, however, strictly warned against leaving their cats (or any animals) on the island. There have been a few cases of owners releasing sick cats there, which is an incredibly irresponsible thing to do. Not only will those cats not receive the medical attention they need, but it also puts the other animals on the island at risk.
The cats here are tame and love cuddles, so be prepared for a crowd of furry kitties!
Those who want to visit the Island can simply key in Meow Island or look for Pusat Tenun Pekan on Waze.
Will you be visiting?
