Recently, the Malaysia Animal Association took to their Facebook to show a sun bear, sadly wandering around a logging site believed to be in Pahang.

The caption read: “A sun bear with a leg injury has lost its direction after its habitat was destroyed by logging. It is believed that this is in Kuala Lipis, Pahang, where large scale logging is being carried out right now.
“The land has been left bald without reforestation, leaving wild animals like the sun bear without a home and to wander aimlessly,” they continued.
The Malayan Sun bear or the Sun bear is the smallest member of the bear family and they are easily distinguishable by their bib-shaped golden or white patch on their chest.
These adorable bears are shy in nature and live in the remote and dense lowland forests of Southeast Asia, and like many other bears, the Sun bear currently faces multiple threats such as habitat loss, population fragmentation, illegal hunting and trading for traditional medicine and delicacies.
In the heartbreaking video, you can clearly see the poor, confused bear trying to find its way around the destroyed forest, wandering helplessly through the site.
After a few seconds, the bear can be seen standing on its hind legs trying to get a better look at his surrounding areas.
Beruang Matahari kelihatan cedera di kaki hilang arah selepas tempat perlindungannya musnah akibat pembalakan. Lokasi dimaklumkan di Kuala Lipis, Pahang ini mengalami pembalakan besar-besaran bukan tujuan untuk pembangunan dan ditinggalkan botak begitu sahaja tanpa penanaman semula hutan menyebabkan banyak haiwan liar kelihatan berkeliaran tanpa arah tujuan. Kerajaan Negeri Pahang perlu berubah segera supaya mengelakkan lebih banyak lagi kemusnahan hutan berlaku saban bulan. Pembukaan hutan dan pembalakan bukan sahaja memusnahkan habitat haiwan liar tetapi bakal mengundang musibah kepada manusia seperti banjir besar, kesan rumah hijau, pengurangan okaigen, pemanasan global dan mencatatkan negara sebagai sebuah negara yang musnah alam semula jadi. Malaysia perlu berubah. Hentikan pembalakan! “Deforestation will not only destroy wildlife habitats, but will also invite disasters such as flash floods, greenhouse effects, oxygen depletion and global warming. Our country will also be recorded as a nation that destroys nature,” they continued.
For us, not being able to protect our forest and its unique biodiversity is very disappointing. Our forests and wild animals deserve better!
