Last week, Lost Adventures on YouTube uploaded a video of themselves checking out an abandoned building in the UK.

To their surprise, they found a whole fleet of luxury cars and prototypes said to be worth millions of pounds - and strangely, one of the cars was a black Proton Perdana!

You can skip to 2:42 if you just want to see the Perdana...

The number plate of the car read “VK 5231”, and of course, being the “investigative journalists” they are, Malaysians were quick to get to the bottom of this.

It turns out, the Perdana in question actually belongs to our former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad! But what’s it doing there?

Well, according to the former premier’s personal aide, Tun M had sent the car over for research and development (R&D) purposes, for a company that develops components made for electric vehicles.

This is because Tun M wanted to develop a national hybrid car at the time.

Tun M’s aide even took to Facebook to back his claims:

MISTERI KERETA PERDANA VK5231 Kecoh kat media sosial pasal ada kereta Proton Perdana jumpa bersama dengan kereta-kereta...

As for the abandoned building, it belongs to luxury car manufacturer Bristol Cars, owned by British businessman Kamal Siddiqi, whom Tun M met in 2016 to kick start discussions on a potential hybrid car.

However, the project didn’t take off, or we would be seeing a hybrid Proton in the market today.

Still a random and interesting story, though!
