To Fake Injury Or Not To Fake Injury?

Oh no! Our dear Youth and Sports Minister, YB Syed Saddiq, was admitted to hospital recently for appendicitis. While some users wished for his speedy recovery, one Twitter user decided that this may all seem a bit... staged.

The minister shared a photo of him recovering in a ward at the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) with Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah binti Haji Mohamad Ali right by his side.

While his condition clearly looked severe, one Twitter user thought it was fake.

According to Twitter user, Solehin, a doctor friend of his had confirmed that YB Saddiq did not suffer from appendicitis, after he forwarded the one evidence he had with him, which was the same photo posted by the minister.

He claimed that the minister’s claims were false on two pretexts; 1) the blood pressure monitors that are not commonly used for those who had gone through an appendicitis surgery and 2) The size of the surgery wound, that is not supposed to be that big.

While Solehin himself has no medical degree and has not gotten a chance to visit the minister at the hospital and inspect the wound himself, he quickly confirmed that the minister was faking his injury due to his history of faking injuries.

Twitter users were quick to point that Solehin may have accused the minister without any hard evidence.

Even adored Malaysian surgeon Dr Amalina Che Bakri also had something to say.

While some may want to believe that the minister had plotted his injury for some kind of political agenda, this definitely doesn’t look like the case. We wish him a speedy recovery and to just ignore all the haters!
