According to BERNAMA, owner Zulkifli Ismail, decided to open Selera D’ Bendang Senja early last month to aid poor families living around Kampung Sungai Padang.

He said that parents with (perhaps) two children can afford to go to a restaurant to eat, but those with large families usually can’t afford it.

His food is well-received by customers, especially his popular laksa utara that people were even willing to travel from Perak to Perlis, just to try it!

Zulkifli, who is assisted by three workers, cooks 8kg of glutinous rice, 20kg of rice, 20 packets of laksa and 20 chickens – the response is incredible, as the food usually sells out in less than 3 hours.

His other best-selling options include the glutinous rice with chicken, laksa utara, chicken rice and beef rice. Also available are various beverages including ais batu campur (ABC), cendol and laicikang, also at the price of RM1 each.

He also said that he is not worried about profit as his stall has not made any losses, as he cooks all the food himself and customers don’t only come for one meal.

Thank you Uncle, for your sedap and cheap meals!
