According to Astro AWANI, Taiping district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Osman Mamat said the compound was released after the video of the 17-year-old went viral on social media on Monday (August 2nd).

Further investigations found that the incident took place in Kamunting, Perak and the police managed to track down the teenager who had removed the red KKM wristband without permission from the Ministry of Health (MOH).

“The young girl underwent a test last Saturday (July 31st) and the result is still pending. It was believed that she only went to a friend’s house,” said Osman.

He clarified that the compound was imposed because the teenger had committed an offence under Regulation 16 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (PPPPB) (Measures in Local Areas of Infection) Regulations (National Rehabilitation Plan) 2021.

He also advised the public to not be complacent and to always follow the SOPs that have been set by the government.

Any individuals who are found intentionally violating the SOPs will be investigated under the Prevention and Conrol of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.
