Stop The Abuse Against Stray Dogs!

Growing up, we were always told to love and care for animals. Well, these cases of abuse against innocent animals proved otherwise and showed just how inhumane humans can be!

A recent raid in Bandar Tasik Puteri Rawang in Selangor revealed shocking and just downright evil cases of abuse against stray dogs.

The Malaysia Animal Association shared photos of stray dogs by the side of the road, clearly poisoned and being left to die, and claimed that these inhumane acts were done by the residents of Bandar Tasik Puteri in Rawang, Selangor. In its post, the association urged local authorities to take action and devise a better system to deal with stray dogs in residential areas. The association called for witnesses to report cases of abuse to their hotline, so wrongdoers are punished for their crime against animals.

To date, there have been 6 cases of animal poisoning reported in the area. As of 2 weeks ago, The President of The Malaysia Animal association Arie Dwi Andika has met up with the state legislative assembly for Rawang, Y.B Chua Wei Kiat, to address the mishandling of stray dogs and to discuss better management of stray dogs. Unfortunately, for most cases of abuse against stray dogs, the perpetrators are usually individuals who act against the law and do not bother to report to their local authorities if they are any problems with stra dogs in their neighbourhood.

Within the same week, another stray dog that was painted green was also seen roaming around the streets of Shah Alam. According to the association, painting an animal’s body is not a laughing matter and a direct offense under the Animal Welfare Act 2015 because it falls into the category of abuse and can have devastating effects on animal’s health.

I think it’s high time we Malaysians take better care of our animals before we are known as the country who poisons or paints animals for fun.
