Several opposition MPs have taken to Twitter to speak up about Kudat MP, Abdul Rahim Bakri’s now-deleted Facebook post accusing Veveonah Mosibin of faking an online university exam.

Veveonah, also known as the “treetop girl” online, recently gained popularity after posting a video of herself climbing a tree to get better internet connection to sit for her online exams.
Just last week, Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister, Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin accused her in the Dewan Rakyat of being a fraud, after which he apologised for, claiming he was given the wrong information on what had happened.
Segambut MP, Hannah Yeoh took to her Twitter page to question the Women, Family and Community Development Minister Rina Harun’s silence over the matter.
“If you don’t recognise it, this is actually cyberbullying in action. By two deputy ministers. Against a young child,” she said in her tweet.
Former Youth and Sports Minister, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman also called out the deputy minister on his personal Twitter page: “Enough bullying the Youths. From wasting time and energy in belittling Veveonah, it’s better to focus on expanding the internet network in Sabah.”
While Lembah Pantai MP, Fahmi Fadzil questioned the Kudat MP for not making an effort to meet Veveonah before accusing her online.
“Are the younger generations not important?” he said in a tweet.
Former Education Minister, Dr. Maszlee Malik also voiced out his concerns regarding the issue, “Where are MOHE and MOE when a student is being bullied by deputy ministers?”
Several celebrities also took to their Twitter to show their support for Veveonah, who has since taken a step back from social media, amid backlash from netizens claiming she had lied about what had happened.
Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin was quoted saying that he’ll be heading over to Universiti Malaysia Sabah (USM), to meet with Veveonah’s lecturers and staff there, to find out what exactly had happened.
Cyberbullying can be damaging, and we hope that Veveonah is okay!
