Penang recently made it to the list of “15 Best Islands In The World To Retire On In 2021.”.

The Pearl of the Orient comes after Malta and Mallorca, Spain at first and second places respectively.
Other Asian islands that made it to the list were Bali, Indonesia (9th place), Koh Samui, Thailand (10th place) and Phu Quoc, Vietnam (15th place).
The list, curated by "in-the-know professionals", said that their top 15 list included the ability to live a simpler, more peaceful life. Penang, with English widely spoken on the island was a plus point in the consideration. It also makes it easier for people to fly to many other countries in Southeast Asia from Penang. The island also appeals to foodies, bikers and divers, said expert contributor, Kara Williams.
Visiting using a retirement visa is temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic but we hope things change soon.
In case you missed it, Penang was also named one of the "11 Best Islands for Retirement Abroad" in November last year, by International Living, a website that covers global retirement or relocation opportunities.
