Over 2,000 Malindo Staff Signed Off With Heartbreaking Farewells On Twitter

“You have to do everything you can, you have to work your hardest, and if you do, if you stay positive, you have a shot at a silver lining”

The quote from the 2012 award-winning movie, Silver Linings Playbook really hits close to home, especially now.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the implementation of the movement control order (MCO) in March has affected many of us, -especially for those who are working in the tourism and airline industry.

According to the New Straits Times, Malindo Air has undergone further retrenchments to cut costs during the COVID-19 pandemic and is expected to cut more than half of its workforce from 3,200 to just 1,000.

The airline company also offered a three-month salary severance package during this retrenchment, and many of its staff took to social media to share their experiences and memories while working with the airline company, leading to a flood of love on social media from stewardesses, pilots, and on-ground staff.

Some also took to Instagram to share snapshots of their happy moments with the airline.

For sure i had to put down my wings. Thank you for the memories we gone through together past 3 years I’m with aviation, from passengers, ground operations, crewing & first officers. Only god know what we experienced. To all my friends, who are affected too, have faith. InsyaAllah rezeki Tuhan tu luas seluas alam semesta. Jangan bersedih. Sinar baru pasti tiba. “Jagad anyar kang dumadi”. Goodbye Lion Group, Malindo Air and sisters carriers.. Lion Air, Batik Air. Till we meet again ❤️.
