As we’ve seen throughout the Movement Control Order (MCO), many Malaysians are finding alternative ways to make ends meet amid the coronavirus pandemic.
And national bodybuilder, Awang Mohd Azizul Ghani is one of them!
With several international competitions cancelled and postponed, the 35-year-old is now running a burger stall in Kuching, Sarawak, which offers a range of healthier burgers compared to your standard ‘Ramly burger’.
Awang told Bernama he was inspired to start ‘Burger Muscleman’ after finding it difficult to obtain healthy meals at affordable prices, and decided to start something to cater to fitness junkies as well, of course.
“In order to provide customers meals of a healthier choice, the food is prepared based on the eating habits of professional bodybuilders, focusing on consuming more protein,” he said.

Awang added that he didn’t expect to gain popularity so quickly, as customers flocked to his stall for his signature item on the menu, the salmon burger.
“Based on my observation, not that many of us can afford to eat salmon as the price is quite expensive; therefore, I came out with the initiative to sell this burger,” he said.
Awang’s signature salmon burger is made purely out of Norwegian salmon and is only sold on Fridays and Saturdays.
Besides that, ‘Burger Muscleman’ also sells the ‘Tricep Beef Burger’, ‘Hamstring Hot Dog’ and ‘whey Protein Benjo’, names which only emphasises his target market.
All the best, Awang!
