Man Had Trouble Breathing, Doctors Found Teeth Growing In His Nose

A man had trouble breathing and doctors discovered a tooth growing inside of his nose. Ouch!

According to NDTV, the 38-year-old man went to a clinic in Mount Sinai, New York complaining of difficulties breathing in his right nostril. He explained that he had been having breathing problems for a very long time.

Apparently the man had a deviated septum at first, which means the bone and cartilage that divides the nasal cavity of the nose were shifted.

But after a doctor used a rhinoscope to make sure, which is a tool for inspecting the interior of the nose, they discovered that the man had a hard object lodged in his nostril.

A CT scan revealed the startling diagnosis: a tooth growing inside the nasal cavity.

Medically, the man had an “inverted ectopic tooth” which developed in his nose. Ectopic teeth are when teeth grow in the wrong places which are extremely rare.

But luckily, oral and otolaryngologic surgery allowed doctors to remove the tooth. Three months following the surgery, the patient’s nasal blockage had disappeared which indicated that there were no postoperative complications.

The patient can now breathe without any difficulty.

Phew, what a relief! We’re glad he is okay now!
