Man Almost Got Scammed By Two Men Who Claimed They Were There To Repossess His Car

Scammers are very good at what they do, and they can be very good at convincing you that they are who they say they are.

And recently, a man almost got his car stolen!

A Facebook user shared his experience on the “Pengutip Beri Burok” Facebook page, saying that he was almost duped by two men who said that a bank had instructed them to tow his car.

The incident happened when the man was stopping to get his car filled at a petrol station near the Bentong toll heading to Karak.

He was informed that he owed money on outstanding tickets and they were there to seize his car.

“It was weird because my car is almost 20 years old. It’s certainly a ruse to deceive an unsuspecting old man,” he said.

He then demanded the repossession notice in order to check the issuing bank, but the men were unable to produce it. They did say, however, that his license plate number was in their system which they graciously showed the man.

The man also noticed that they were not alone as there were other two people inside a nearby car, a driver and a passenger who was holding a laptop and showing him an excel document containing a list of number plates.

But he did notice that there were no other specifics about the cars - no year of manufacture, no credit card number, no details of the issuing bank or debt amount and it was merely the plate number which appeared to have been typed just a few minutes ago.

Hmm, very suspicious.

Not wanting to play their game any longer, the man told them to bring the bank letter with them rather than simply confronting people without any details or valid documents.

He was also able to photograph the men, and despite being asked to delete the photos - he informed them they were for his own safety before driving away.

Guys, be careful!

If something like this ever happens to you, don’t panic and remember to check all the details of your car and they should also provide you with a valid repossession letter from the bank before they can take your car!

If you’re alone and afraid, please call the police ASAP and they will help you.

Take care and stay safe!
