And in one of his Instagram posts, Dr. Say shared his experience working as one of the doctors giving the COVID-19 vaccine jabs to the elderly.
Dr. Say said that the number of attendees were very encouraging so far, with almost 90% being senior citizens as the second batch of the AstraZeneca vaccine was open exclusively for senior citizens aged 60 and above.
However, from his observation, not many of the senior citizens who came for the vaccination are Malays.
He also expressed his shock when most of the senior citizens who came to him for the vaccination told him that many of their friends did not want to take the vaccine because of the things they hear from their friends.
Most of the mak cik and pak cik that came to take their vaccine said that they did it in order to see their grandchildren.
“When I thanked the mak cik and pak cik who came to take their vaccines, they told me that most of their friends didn’t want to take the jabs because of the things they hear from their friends,” Dr. Say said in his caption.
He also added that at the beginning of the second round of the COVID-19 vaccination registration, not many people registered their parents for the vaccination due to the many rumours circulating the internet.
Dr. Say ended the post by advising the public to not be easily fooled by all the fake news and incorrect information about the COVID-19 vaccine, especially the ones that are sent through chain messages on WhatsApp and Facebook.
We totally agree with Dr. Say! If you have any questions or doubts about the vaccine, you can always visit a clinic and ask a doctor!
