Kedah Policemen Manning Roadblock Heartbroken After Having To Part With Feline Companion, Kilat

What a heartwarming story!

The closure of the North Toll Plaza Roadblock (SJR) in Alor Setar at exactly 12 am on Monday (October 10th) left 15 policemen and members of the People’s Volunteers Corps Department (RELA) feeling sad for having to part with a cat who have accompanied them for more than a year!

Sergeant Budian Saf Taib, from the Kota Setar District Police headquarters (IPD) said the moment he had to part with the male cat, who they named Kilat, was very sad because the feline had been with him since he started manning the roadblock.

In fact, they said that the cat is their main companion and entertainer every day.

“The cat has been here since day one. We don’t even know where it came from so we decided to give him some food, while he just stayed here with us and continued to be our companion,” he told Astro AWANI.

Kilat also found his new forever home with Mohd Hadi who is from the Kedah Public Works Department (JKR), who did not expect that the brown furry cat would become his…

“I came here to help them pack up, and as soon as we were done, one of the policemen offered me to be the new owner of the cat. I immediately agreed,” he said.

Also sharing memories was a RELA member Nor Asnah Saad, said she had been manning the roadblock for the past six months and felt sad seeing all her friends packing their belongings.

“We are like a big family, and we have been taking care of each other since the first day. It’s sad because I have been working with them for months,” she said.

We’re glad that Kilat has found its new hooman and a forever home!

We would also like to thank all our frontliners who have been manning the roadblocks during the MCO and keeping Malaysians safe against COVID-19!

You are our real-life heroes!
