Scam calls have been happening for a long time now, but most of the time we probably just end up getting annoyed at these callers, if anything else. Twitter user Abdul Hakeem Aiman received one such call and he decided to teach the scammer a lesson. When his phone rang and he picked up, the operator said it was a call from the court, and that there was a summons claim issue he had to settle.
Hakeem had time to spare, so he decided to play along. When the person on the other end of the line said he was from the court, Hakeem identified himself as a lawyer and asked the guy which court he was calling from. After Hakeem requested for the name of Magistrate Judge 6 and case number, the caller immediately hung up. Definitely suspicious behaviour right there. Hakeem went on to caution netizens that the court would never call you, especially as they don’t even have your phone number. He added on that the plaintiff’s lawyer will be the one to contact you in civil cases, while the police will be the ones looking for you in criminal cases. Stay alert and make sure you never fall for a scam! What is the worst scam call you encountered?
