Everybody loves free stuff, especially when you’re tired and hungry. Unfortunately for this Grabfood driver, it just wasn’t his day.
In a tweet that has since gone viral, Afiq Adeeb shared his misfortunes while on the job as a Grabfood driver.
He was delivering drinks to a customer named Carol Wong when he received a message stating that the drinks are for him. Feeling grateful, he replied to the message thanking Carol Wong for her generosity.

Carol Wong who may be a little bit confused at the time replied to Afiq’s message, apologizing to him since as it turns out, the note offering the drinks was actually for the last rider, and not him!

Afiq’s tweet blew up with more than 14,000 retweets by netizens who just pitied him for his bad luck.
Afiq told mStar that he often hears stories about riders being gifted with food while they’re on the job which is why he was excited when he received the message from Carol Wong.
“It was finally my time to experience the sweet moment, but it was a bit odd that the delivery was made too early. It was only 3:30 pm at the time,” he said.
However, as it turns out they may have been a glitch in the system that caused the message for the previous rider to appear.
“From the beginning, I thought the whole situation was a bit odd. She can’t be ordering four drinks worth RM60 for me alone and so early in the day at 3:30 pm.”
Afiq harbours no hard feelings and delivered the drinks to Carol Wong. He even tweeted netizens to stop hating Carol Wong for the misunderstanding as she was nice enough to offer him extra tips for all his troubles.
Afiq’s little misunderstanding even got the attention of Grab Malaysia who offered to send him something as a token of goodwill.
Every cloud has a silver lining. Next time we order from Afiq, we’ll be sure to get him something too!
