The MySejahtera app has been one of the essential parts of Malaysia’s new normal during the COVID-19 pandemic, as we rely heavily on the app to check-in at places we visited for contact tracing.
However, one Malaysian named Syarifah Liyana took to her Twitter to share how she accidentally signed up for the MySejahtera app with the name “Starfish” instead of “Syarifah”, and “Binot” instead of “Binti”.
She said that she has been using the name for almost a year and has tried changing it, but the app won’t let her because it has already been verified with her IC.
“Now, I am Patrick. Once a starfish, always a starfish,” she said.
She also said that she has been keeping it a secret from her parents for almost a year.
“I finally exposed myself publicly, however, my parents still have no idea. They are going to be so disappointed in me because they gave me a great name, but I choose to be a starfish.”
But with the help of netizens, and her sister, she finally got to change her name back.
This is hilarious! Autocorrect is one of those things that’s annoying, but everyone has it on their phones.
We’re glad that Syarifah got to be herself again!
