Elderly Woman Scammed! Man Comes To Her Home, Cuts Gas Pipe & Asked For RM600

Scammers are getting creative, and it is safe to say their creativity is annoying.

Recently, a teacher named Zaina Zanariah shared on her Facebook page how her mother was scammed out of RM600 by a stranger.

She wrote in her post that the man was dressed in a TNB uniform and was riding a motorcycle when he appeared at her Perak home on Thursday (April 14th) at around 2 pm. At the time, her mother was alone at home.

The man then requested to check the meter in front of their house, as well as the serial number of their gas cylinder. He explained that a gas cylinder had exploded in a house in the next village.

“My mother opened the door for the man right away.

“He informed my mother that the gas pipe had broken and that he had replaced it without her permission. He then asked my mother to pay him RM600 for the service, which she did,” her post reads.

Apparently, the man rushed into the kitchen and asked for a knife. She believes that it was at this point, that the man had sliced the gas pipe open with the knife.

The man also asked her mother to sign a receipt, but even then he took it away.

Zaina’s mother only realized that the price was too expensive after the man had left and remembered that they replaced the gas pipe just over a month ago.

She then contacted a relative who works at TNB if they provided the service, and he said no. She then realized what had happened at that point.

Alamak, so dangerous!
