Doing It For The ‘Gram? Tulips Garden In Perlis Ruined By Visitors

We all know that Instagram is great for sharing photos and videos with our friends and family.

While “doing it for the ‘gram” sounds really basic and harmless, but what we don’t actually know is that this culture is slowly ruining destinations and encouraging people to be disrespectful of public property and nature.

Recently, a lake resort in Perlis took to their Facebook page urging the public to be mindful of their decorations after their artificial tulips were ruined by visitors.

Apart from the damage, a few photos of a woman sitting on top of the tulips while posing for a photo was also shared by the resort.

In the caption, they said: “We urge the public to please treat our decor with care and be considerate of the work of our maintenance team who put the display together, placing each tulip individually by hand.”

“We hope that everyone can cooperate in showing love to these flowers, please do not step, sit, lie or pluck the tulips. It hurts our hearts to see them ruined.”

We can’t believe some people would go to great destructive lengths just for a picture. Don’t get us wrong, it’s okay to take pictures for you to share on social media… but please don’t ruin the decorations and let other people enjoy it, too!

So, regardless of whether you have a following of a hundred or a few hundred thousand people… we all have a responsibility to play.

Social media is an incredibly powerful tool and it’s up to us to decide whether we want to be part of a positive platform or continuously part of the damage.

Be mindful and be responsible!
