Those who spotted the phenomenon said that it looked like a blazing coil of rings orbiting the sun, with tints of rainbow.
The phenomenon can be seen mostly in states in Peninsular Malaysia, however, not everyone was able to see it as the sun was covered by thin clouds.
A part-time photographer from Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, Fuad Nizam, managed to capture the phenomenon, and shared the photo with his followers on Instagram.
Wow, that’s beautiful!
The event happened at around 10:15 am until noon on Monday (August 2nd).
Sun halo or moon halo, also known as ‘22 degree halo’ is an optical phenomenon that occurs due to sunlight refracting in millions of hexagonal ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere. It takes the form of a ring with a radius of approximately 22 degrees around the sun or moon
