If you have permission to cross state borders during this Movement Control Order (MCO) period, please be responsible and abide by the SOPs!

A series of Instagram story screenshots recently went viral on social media of a couple who were on a “honeymoon retreat” during the MCO period.

The owner of the photos even admitted that she had travelled interstate with her husband for their honeymoon trip, and netizens were not having it!

Remember, guys, Malaysia is still under the MCO and interstate travel is still prohibited unless you are travelling under travel agencies with public transport or have permission from the police.

In her Instagram story, the woman wrote: “Stop being jealous. Go write a letter and have the police sign it for you!”

She also advised her Instagram followers that they must be convincing and pandai-pandai pujuk the police officers to get the approval letter.

However, Wangsa Maju district Chief of Police, Superintendent Ashari Abu Samah confirmed that after investigations, the couple was found to have applied for an interstate travel permission letter for a work trip to Johor on Monday (March 15th).

“Based on the documents submitted by the husband, they presented a letter of order to travel for work by his company and the cross-state application was approved by police starting from Wednesday (March 17th) to Saturday (March 20th),” he said.

He also said when the couple was called in for further investigation, they denied that they had travelled to Pulau Perhentian, Terengganu for a “honeymoon trip” and even presented the necessary itineraries, receipts and accommodation of their business affairs.

The couple also said that they had uploaded the photos on their personal Instagram account and did not expect the photos to go viral on Twitter and other social media platforms.

This is really not the time to go on a holiday, guys! We’re still under the MCO, so please do not be complacent, abide by the SOPs and take care of your own health!
