During this whole global pandemic that has affected our country, Malaysians have been looking up to one person, who has been the calm in the midst of the storm.
When things seemed hopeless, he has given us nothing but assurance with his leadership and kindness every single day - and he is none other than our Health DG Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah!
Two months ago he celebrated his birthday and Malaysians joined together to celebrate it, too, sending him birthday cards, birthday cakes, and even videos and artworks to show their appreciation!
But we’re mostly impressed by a cake crafted by Banker2Baker, a double-tiered salted, caramel, pecan butterscotch and pistachio. It even sounds delicious!
Speaking to SYOK, Zulkiflee Mawan said he started the business about 5 years ago, “I had zero cooking or baking knowledge back then. I went for classes and just went from there learning through experience.”
He was overwhelmed and happy about all the positive comments he received from netizens.
The cake was actually a last minute order on the Sunday before DG Hisham’s birthday, which was on Tuesday, “It’s a special order, so we really wanted to just give our best. I came home, discussed a bit with my wife, and after some internet browsing stumbled upon a Superman cake.”
He added that it was very befitting of DG Hisham’s role during the pandemic, “It is also pretty much how Malaysians view him, a hero. So that’s basically how I get inspired for the cake.”
Zulkiflee also had previously made a birthday cake for former Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, too! Yes, he is very talented!
