An S-Shaped “Snake” Sent Firefighters Running To The Rescue

This family is taking their ophidiophobia (fear of snakes) to the next level!

Firefighters from the Pasir Tumboh Fire and Rescue Department, certainly had a night they’ll likely never forget when they encountered a ‘deadly snake” found in a house at Kampung Chica, Kubang Kerian, last Sunday (Feb 16).

Pasir Tumboh Fire and Rescue Department chief, El Taraf Mohamad said that they received a phone call from a family, notifying them of the presence of a deadly snake circling in the house curtains.

Three firefighters were rushed to the location and as soon as they saw the ‘snake”, they just couldn’t believe their eyes.

The “snake” turned out to be a plastic letter S that was half-hidden inside the curtain.

“They asked where the snake was, and the family pointed at the letter. Our firefighters then ‘caught the snake’ and just burst into laughter,” he said when contacted by Harian Metro

Mohamad said that the family was only able to apologize to the firefighters repeatedly as they panicked and thought they were faced with a real life-threatening situation.

"This is definitely the first time I’ve encountered such a funny case involving snakes while I’m on duty at the station,” he said.

Pakdo Mat, one of the firefighters involved in the rescue mission also shared on his Facebook how the night went down.

Along with pictures of the “snake”, he wrote, “I received an emergency call that a cobra was found in a house. As soon as I arrived at the location, the cobra turned out to be a curtain tie back that resembled a snake”

“I have to praise the caller for being a responsible person”, he added.

“This is the responsibility and trust that we have to uphold. Ready to rescue” he said

His post had since been shared by more than 10K users, with people commenting on how hilarious the whole situation was.
