While some of us are at home complaining over being quarantined and missing important events, this couple made the best out of the situation.
With the COVID-19 now being labeled as a global pandemic, the government has restricted any mass gathering or movements in order to curb the spread of the virus. This, in turn, has led to many events such as weddings, religious gatherings, concerts and more, to be canceled.
However, certain ceremonies are still allowed under strict guidelines. Marriage ceremonies, for example, are permitted only if they are attended by a registrar or assistant registrar of marriage, the groom and bride, a guardian, two witnesses and two representatives on behalf of the groom and bride. No handshakes are allowed.
That being said, this couple decided to celebrate their love despite the difficult time the world is facing because what’s better than love? More love!
In the 1 minute and 13 second video, the bride and groom were seen having their wedding ceremony in front of the Tok Kadi’s house, with the house gate separating the Tok Kadi from the couple and guests attending the ceremony.
Even with a small number of people, everyone during the ceremony practiced ‘social distancing’ and stood a metre away from one another. Without a handshake, the groom casually recited his akad from outside the house gate. The Tok Kadi later checked with all the guests present that they heard him loud and clear, even the one standing far away behind the garbage can!
As witnessed by all the attendees, the groom later recited the akad to the lovely bride as they officially became husband and wife.
The video was circulated across social media and received the attention of netizens who not only congratulated the newlyweds but also praised them for being responsible citizens at a time of crisis.
