A 74-year-old grandmother from Kelantan wowed social media users after a clip of her climbing a hill while wearing a jubah went viral on TikTok!
Hikers in the clip were also impressed with her and greeted her with applause after she reached the peak of Bukit Panau in Tanah Merah, Kelantan.
Wan Zaharah Wan Ismail was hiking with her family members who also cheered for her when she was nearing the peak.
Her granddaughter, Haishah Hashram told Malay Mail that her grandmother has never been the type to stay quiet at home and would always walk around her village to see her friends.
“She enjoys taking long walks and sometimes, she would go for walks alone. She was so eager and excited to climb the hill and even after we’ve reached the peak, she told my family and I that she wanted to climb more hills,” she said.
Haishah also said that her grandmother insisted on wearing her jubah and putting on her slippers as she felt more comfortable that way.
Incase you don’t know, a jubah is like a long coar, either with buttons or zippers down the front, traditionally worn by many Muslim men and women.
Not the most suitable or safest thing to wear during a hike, but hey, if it makes you comfortable, then why not?
The video has since been viewed over 15,000 times on TikTok at the time of writing, with many in the comment section applauding the grandma for her endurance and willingness to climb the hill, despite being 74-years-old!
What an inspiration!
