Last month, the discussion regarding University students in Malaysia surviving on only one meal a day to save money went viral on Twitter.
One student even revealed how she could only afford to buy plain rice…

But good news for all University students! Higher Education minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin on Thursday (16 March) introduced the Menu Siswa Rahmah at Kafeteria Randau Rasa in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
According to him, he already has the support of 20 public universities, 24 polytechnics and 8 community colleges for this programme, while 236 vendors will also take part to improve the menus in universities.
“We were able to get the RM3.50 price because the University management has absorbed some of the rental fees for the vendors,” he told The Star.
He also stressed that the menu is strictly for B40 students and that standard operating procedures (SOP) were already in place by university managements to target eligible students by giving out tokens.
The Menu Siswa Rahman is expected to benefit 320,000 B40 students in the country.
