Elon Musk, Twitter’s new “Chief Twit” is reportedly considering making verification a Twitter Blue feature while also quadrupling the cost of the subscription service.
In case you didn’t know, Twitter Blue is Twitter’s subscription that brings extra features like edit and undo tweets, which the company is planning to start charging users a fee of $19.99 a month.

Wah, that’s the price for a premium Netflix subscription!
This would imply charging users a monthly fee to also keep their blue tick badge.
However, many users said they would rather be unverified than having to pay a subscription fee to use Twitter.
The Twitter verification displays a small checkmark badge on eligible accounts like companies, brands and organizations, which also includes famous people like athletes, politicians and celebrities, and is used to confirm their identity to others.
Users will have 90 days to subscribe or lose their blue tick once Twitter’s new policy takes effect. And it’s also unclear what will happen to verified users in countries where Twitter Blue isn’t available, which is anywhere other than the United States, Canada, Australia or New Zealand…
So, looks like we’ll just have to wait and see!
