Safeguard Your Water Filter Machine: Turn It Off During Water Supply Disruptions - MKN

Access to sufficient and clean water is a fundamental necessity for every individual. 

However, in certain areas, especially within our country, there are critical issues concerning water supply that significantly impact the daily lives of people.

The problem of water supply disruptions can lead to the drying out of water filter machines, posing a serious risk of electrical short circuits. 

This concern was raised by Norazam Khamis, the Director of Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, who emphasized that the absence of water hampers the proper functioning of these vital machines.

During this period, it is crucial for all of us to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. Firefighting operations, particularly in Class One residential buildings, require substantial amounts of water, often exceeding 3,000 liters for effective extinguishing. 

However, we must also consider the potential consequences if a fire were to occur in densely populated areas or squatter settlements where even more water may be needed.

To prevent accidents, the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia has previously shared an incident involving a fire caused by a short circuit in a water filter machine. Such incidents highlight the importance of maintaining awareness and taking necessary safety measures.

In line with this, the National Security Council (MKN) advises the public, especially those facing water supply disruptions, to turn off their water filter machine switches. By doing so, we can ensure the machines operate efficiently and minimize any risks associated with their operation.

In a recent development, Air Selangor has announced that 99 areas within the Klang Valley will experience unscheduled water supply disruptions starting from May 22, 2023. 

This announcement serves as a reminder for residents to prepare accordingly and take proactive measures to mitigate the potential challenges that may arise.
