Selangor Records 31,822 Dengue Cases As Of November, 131.5% Increase Compared To 2021

Selangor state health director, Datuk Dr. Sha’ari Ngadiman revealed that from January through November this year, Selangor has recorded a total of 31,822 dengue cases.

According to The Star, Selangor recorded 13,745 cases from January to November in 2021, showing a 131.5% increase in the number of cases.

“In the 46th epidemiological week from 13 November to 19 November, a total of 744 dengue cases were reported in the state, which was a decrease of 8.4%, compared to 812 cases in the previous week,” he told reporters. 

The districts that have seen the most dengue cases to date are Petaling with 10,927 cases, Hulu Langat recorded 7,444 cases, Klang (5,405 cases) and Gombak (4,308 cases).

Eight deaths were reported this year in Selangor due to dengue complications, four from the Hulu Langat District Health Centre, two cases from Petaling, and one case each from Hulu Selangor and Kuala Langat.

This is serious, guys! Dengue viruses spread to people through the bite of an infected Aedes mosquito. And according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about 4 billion people live in areas with a risk of dengue, which is half of the human population.
