The unveiling of the elective "Celebrity Studies: Taylor Swift in Focus" sparked a frenzy. Within minutes of registration opening, over 300 students clamoured for coveted spots, prompting the university to swiftly arrange extra sessions to accommodate the eager learners.
Leading the charge is Cherish Brillon, a self-professed Swiftie and professor in the university's broadcast communications department. Brillon's course plunges students into the intricate world of Taylor Swift's celebrity, examining her meteoric rise and far-reaching impact on global culture.
"At its core, the course seeks to unravel the enigma of celebrity culture, particularly within the Filipino context, where our interactions with public figures are uniquely nuanced," explains Brillon.
