In a statement, Aidi said that from 1 November to 17 November, the woman has made 17 transactions totaling RM476,100 to two bank accounts using her own savings accounts, her children’s savings and a loan from a friend.
The victim then later discovered that her account had been blocked when she attempted to withdraw money from the accrued interest.
She reported the incident to the police on Monday (21 November) after realizing that she had been scammed.
This year, Bursa Malaysia has urged the public to remain vigilant given the increasing number of online investment scams. In a statement, they also reminded the public to only invest with licensed intermediaries!
