Wolipop news portal reported that a woman in China who contracted COVID-19 was coerced by her mother-in-law to divorce her husband.

The woman, Liu, was quarantined after testing positive for COVID-19 and she also needed to rest a lot. Unfortunately, Liu's in-laws do not understand her predicament and “scolded” her for failing to care for the kids and fulfill her “obligations as a wife.”
It was even more upsetting when Liu was asked to divorce her husband by her mother-in-law.
Liu is seen lying on a bed in a video clip that quickly became viral on social media, while her mother-in-law was irate and yelling. Her husband is seen sitting on the sofa holding their child.
Her father-in-law also scolded her for “bringing the illness home.”

Liu’s mother-in-law also offered her 50,000, which is around RM31,930 as divorce compensation.
“What makes someone so inhumane and cruel? Why would you use COVID-19 as a reason to force divorce if you don’t want to care for your daughter-in-law?” an online user said.
