Police have arrested a man who ran amok and chased two police officers with a knife in Pandan Indah, Ampang on Wednesday (18 January).

The Ampang Jaya District Police chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Farouk Eshak said that the police received an emergency call at around 10:51 am from members of the public, who were alarmed by the man’s behaviour.
He added that police officers who arrived at the scene of the incident had to take their time in calming the man down. Police eventually arrested the man for further investigation.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the man was a mental patient card holder (PSY) and is still undergoing treatment at the psychiatric clinic at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL).
Farouk added that the case will be investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for Criminal Intimidation and can be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with fine or both; if the threat is to cause death or grievous hurt.
