A man in Indonesia has passed away after developing a serious infection, believed to have originated from an untreated cavity.
According to reports, the incident took place in Indonesia, where the man's wife revealed that her husband, who was in his 40s, had never undergone a dental check-up.

Despite experiencing pain, he relied solely on painkillers to manage his discomfort: "Recently, Firmasyah’s cheek became swollen, and he simply applied a pain relief patch, hoping it would ease the pain.
"In the morning, as usual, he went to work but later complained of a swollen neck and sent me a picture. We assumed it was just a common toothache, so he continued using the patch," she explained.
However, his condition worsened day by day. The swelling increased to the point that he struggled to eat and breathe.
Worried about her husband’s deteriorating state, his wife rushed him to the emergency ward for treatment.
Unfortunately, after receiving medical attention, they were sent home without further examination of his decayed tooth.
Later that same day, his condition took a turn for the worse, prompting his return to the hospital, where he finally informed doctors about his dental issue—leading to a shocking discovery.

Doctors found that the infection from his decayed tooth had spread to his neck and shoulders.
Further examination revealed an alarming presence of pus, prompting immediate admission to the intensive care unit (ICU) for emergency surgery, "The doctor said there was pus, and an urgent operation was necessary. After an X-ray of his teeth and lungs, they confirmed that the swelling wasn’t just inflammation but a spreading infection," his wife recounted.
Despite undergoing surgery, his condition continued to deteriorate. Two days later, he was placed in a medically induced coma before tragically succumbing to the infection.
This heartbreaking incident serves as a stark reminder that a simple toothache can become life-threatening if left untreated. Tooth decay and infections do not just stay in the mouth—they can spread to other parts of the body, leading to severe complications.
Good oral hygiene is essential for overall health. Brushing twice daily, flossing regularly, and scheduling dental check-ups every six months can help prevent serious dental issues. If you experience persistent tooth pain, swelling, or difficulty eating and breathing, seek medical attention immediately.
Never take a toothache lightly—your health depends on it.
