The groom's ex-girlfriends showed up to protest his treatment towards them and even threatened to "destroy" him. On February 6, his ex-girlfriends arrived outside his wedding venue with a huge banner that read, "We are Chen's ex-girlfriends, today we will destroy you."

The video has since gone viral on Chinese social media platforms.

Their public protest drew the attention of wedding guests, who approached the women to ask about the banner, "It embarrassed me quite a lot," Chen admitted to the SCMP.

He also stated that the incident enraged and shocked the bride's family, who demanded an explanation from Chen.

Surprisingly, Chen stated that he was not upset with his ex-girlfriends because of their protest at his wedding. He admitted to being immature and a bad boyfriend in the past. "I was immature when I was younger, and I hurt many girls," he admitted.

Though he did not explain what he had done to his ex-girlfriends that resulted in them banding together and showing up at his wedding for a protest, he advised other young people to be fair to their partners.

“You must be loyal to your girlfriends. Don’t cheat on her,” he said.
