M’sian Man Had To Pay 100,000 Baht For Causing Damage To Four Vehicles While “Drifting” His Car In Thailand

A Malaysian man was required to pay nearly 100,000 baht (RM12,438) in compensation for causing damage to four vehicles in Hatyai, Thailand while "drifting" his car at an elephant camp car park.

The damages include broken mirrors and scratches to a car and three other tuk tuks.

According to police, the incident occurred around 1PM last Friday (October 28) at the Chang Puak elephant camp in Hatyai.

According to Hatyai tourist police chief Lt Col Pol Anuwat Rithichai, the 32-year-old Malaysian driver fled the scene without realizing the other vehicles were damaged.

The owners of the vehicles filed a police report on the same day, and the Malaysian vehicle was stopped at the Sadao border checkpoint on Saturday (October 29) at around 6PM. 

“The driver and his wife were taken to the police station to meet with the owners of the affected vehicles. Both parties agreed that the Malaysian driver would pay a compensation of 99,000 Baht.

“The man also apologized to the owners of the vehicles involved,” said Anuwat, as reported by BERNAMA.
