Agoda, the digital travel platform, has ranked Kuching, the capital city of Sarawak, as the third most budget-friendly tourist destination in the Asia Pacific region for travelers looking to vacation this year.

According to The Borneo Post, Kuching stands out as the most economical tourist destination in Malaysia, with only Thailand's Hat Yai and Indonesia's Yogyakarta surpassing it in the Asia Pacific region. The top five destinations also include Vietnam's Dalat, India's Goa, and the Philippines' Baguio.
The analysis reveals that Kuching boasts the lowest average room rate in Malaysia, at just RM282 per night. Additionally, Kuching is a highly sought-after destination, especially during the year-end holiday season.
Cleland Robertson, Agoda's Director of Partner Services for Malaysia and Brunei, emphasized that Kuching transforms into a festive wonderland in December. It is adorned with colorful lights and decorations, creating a vibrant atmosphere. He further noted that Carpenter Street becomes a focal point for locals and visitors alike, offering an exhilarating nightlife scene, particularly on New Year's Eve.
