Kindergarten Teacher's Quick Thinking Saves Lives During Tragic Jet Crash

In a fateful incident near Elmina, Sungai Buloh, Selangor, a kindergarten teacher's swift actions led to the safety of herself and her young students as a business jet crashed on Thursday, 17 August.

The teacher, Masikah Ta'ibah, recounted the nerve-wracking experience, sharing that she and two of her students were traveling through Elmina just moments before the tragic crash occurred.

"I was driving from the kindergarten to drop off the two siblings as usual. Before the plane crashed, I noticed that the plane seemed as if it was 'landing' before the Elmina bridge. However, I didn't think much of it until I heard the plane's engine roaring loudly and close to my car," Masikah recalled, according to Harian Metro.

With quick thinking, the 25-year-old teacher pressed down on the gas pedal and skillfully maneuvered her vehicle past another car, which was later identified as the one driven by an e-hailing driver who tragically lost their life in the crash.

Soon after she had safely navigated her car out of harm's way, a devastating explosion occurred just behind them.

The crash claimed the lives of 10 individuals, including eight aboard the Beechcraft 390 Premier I business jet and two others — a foodpanda rider and a Grab driver — on the expressway.

The terrifying moment was captured on video and circulated on social media, depicting Masikah's car racing past the Grab driver's vehicle only moments before the explosion rocked the area.

Still shaken by the ordeal, Masikah expressed her gratitude for the miraculous escape, saying, "I still can't believe I managed to escape that disaster, and I am very grateful that God protected me and the kids I was carrying. I believe God moved my heart to speed up that day, and I also consider this a warning for me to be careful and even more cautious."

The mother of the two siblings, identified only as Lily, also shared her profound relief and thankfulness. Lily revealed that upon learning her children, aged six and four, were unharmed, she immediately offered a prayer of gratitude.

She expressed deep appreciation for Masikah's quick thinking and actions, acknowledging that the teacher had played an indispensable role in safeguarding her children's lives.

In a time of overwhelming stress and danger, Masikah's actions serve as a reminder of the selflessness and courage that often arise during moments of crisis.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Masikah and all educators who consistently go above and beyond to protect and care for their students. Your dedication and quick thinking truly make a world of difference.
