The Road Transport Department (JPJ) stated on its official Facebook page that the offence was discovered during the special traffic operation implemented on all highways nationwide for the Chinese New Year season.
"JPJ wishes to emphasize that this offence (driving in the emergency lane) is one of seven that will not be compoundable but will land you straight in court," the statement said.
Queue-jumping, overtaking on double lines, running a red light, speeding, using a cellphone while driving a vehicle, not wearing a seat belt or helmet, and using the emergency lane are the seven offenses.
