A video of a man placing his own bank QR code stickers on donation boxes at the Nurul Iman mosque in Jakarta has gone viral on social media.

The incident came to light after the mosque committee noticed several new bank QR code stickers that were placed on the walls and donation boxes. Upon checking the CCTV footage, the committee was able to identify the culprit.
The man had placed fake QR codes on the donation boxes, leading the scanners to send money to a Sumatra-based bank account that was disguised as a fund for mosque renovations. The committee promptly removed the fake QR stickers and informed the authorities about the incident.
However, it was discovered that the man had also placed more of his fake QR codes at several other mosques in the area.
The man had also visited the Istiqlal Mosque, the largest mosque in Southeast Asia, and placed at least 50 stickers of his own bank QR codes around the mosque.
The police were able to identify and apprehend the man responsible for the heinous crime. The Jakarta Police located the evil mastermind in a posh house located in South Jakarta.
The use of fake QR codes to deceive people and scam money is a despicable act, especially when it is done in a religious institution. It is not known what motivated the man to commit such an act, but it is clear that he was not concerned about the consequences of his actions.
The arrest of the culprit is a step in the right direction to discourage such unethical practices and to ensure that the trust people place in religious institutions is not violated.
