Nizam Nababan, a man from Tanjungbalai, North Sumatra, Indonesia was both sad and outraged when he found out that his children had fried his Rp. 15 million arowana.
His arowana fish is believed to be the Super Red Arowana, which originates from the Kapuas River in Kalimantan - which costs around RM4,255 in Malaysian Ringgit!
The incident started when the man, who is known as Bang Bor, found that his beloved fish was missing from his collections aquarium. He then frantically searched for his Arowana fish, which he thought had jumped out of the aquarium.
“I realized that my aquarium tank was empty and thought that my Arowana had jumped out. I couldn’t find it around the aquarium and I don’t know where it went so I asked my wife.
Soon after, two of Nizam’s children, who were still in elementary school, came to him carrying a plate with a fried fish. To his surprise, it was his missing Arowana fish. Alamak!
“I wanted to be angry at them but I decided against it. They said they wanted to try fried Arowana fish because just last night, they had grilled fish and said that they wanted some more.”
Nizam also told his wife and daughters that the Arowana fish only cost him Rp. 5 million (RM1,418) so that his family wouldn’t feel bad for frying his fish.
He shared the story on Facebook which has since garnered a lot of attention! He and his family ended up having the fish with some kicap afterwards.
