South Korea has been a pioneer in popularising light sticks, an essential accessory for fans at K-pop concerts. The trend began with H.O.T., the first boy band to introduce these glowing sticks, which have since become iconic symbols of fan enthusiasm and unity.
Following H.O.T., BIGBANG played a significant role in further popularising light sticks, solidifying their place as a must-have item for K-pop fans.

And now, K-pop style light sticks will illuminate the global celebration of the Olympics. On July 9th, HYBE announced that they would provide specially designed 'Team Korea Light Sticks' to support the South Korean national team at the 2024 Paris Olympics, in collaboration with the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC).
This initiative follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between HYBE and the KSOC in March, aiming to revolutionise the cheering culture at the Olympics. As part of this partnership, HYBE will distribute around 5,000 light sticks, collaborate on artist content to boost support, showcase HYBE Labels artist content at the 'Korea House' in Paris, and produce official Team Korea merchandise.
The 'Team Korea Light Sticks' are set to create a vibrant cheering atmosphere in Paris. HYBE has developed two versions: a standard 'TEAM KOREA OFFICIAL LIGHT STICK' for fans and a 'TEAM KOREA OFFICIAL DIGITAL FLAG' for athletes. Drawing inspiration from the Olympic torch, these light sticks feature the Team Korea logo and a design mimicking a stadium crowd, producing a stunning visual effect when lit.
HYBE plans to distribute 500 light sticks to the national team and approximately 4,500 standard light sticks at the Korea House in Paris. A special cheering event will be held on July 27th in the Korea House garden, where athletes' families and international dignitaries will use the light sticks to support the South Korean team.
HYBE is also engaging its artists in the cheering efforts. SEVENTEEN's unit BSS will participate in the 'Team Korea Cheering Challenge,' energising fans with their hit song "Fighting."
This challenge will commence with a video released on KSOC’s social media channels, encouraging widespread support for the national team.
